John 16:13-15 (NIV) But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on His own; He will speak only what He hears, and He will tell you what is yet to come. He will bring glory to Me by taking from what is Mine and making it known to you. All that belongs to the Father is Mine. That is why I said the Spirit will take from what is Mine and make it known to you. This is the work of the Holy Spirit in your life. He is your connection to Jesus and your heavenly Father.

John 16:8 (NIV) When He comes, He will convict the world of guilt in regard to sin and righteousness and judgment. While it is vital that you get set free from mistakes and sin, that isn’t the only objective of the Holy Spirit. He wants to take the wonderful things of Jesus and your Father and put them in you. Guilt helps you to apply The Steps To Repentance. But, one of the greatest procedures is for the Holy Spirit to put things in your life that crowd out and replace those mistakes and sins.

When He, the Spirit of truth, comes: Jesus was saying this because He hadn’t gone away and the Holy Spirit hadn’t come yet. But, even though the Holy Spirit has come into the world, He hadn’t come into your life prior to salvation. Now that He is living inside you, He can do so much more than just warn your conscience about right and wrong. He is offer you power to live Jesus’ life. He is living in you so you can be in direct contact with all that Jesus has to offer.

He will guide you into all truth: The Holy Spirit is in you so you can be guided into ALL truth: John 8:32 (NIV) Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” It may seem like you reading these devotions is causing you to understand truth. It may seem that you reading your Bible is revealing Jesus’ truths. It may seem that when a truth lights up inside your mind that you just figured it out. But, that is NOT what happened. It is the Holy Spirit taking the information coming your way and making it clear to you.

Rom 8:16 (NIV) The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. You have this faith, confidence, assurance, and knowledge that you have been born again, are a Christian, and are a child of God. The reason you have that is because the Holy Spirit is speaking that assurace into your heart. He doesn’t typically speak to you with words. He usually will just speak to your spirit and you will know what He is communicating to you. It comes to you with full meaning, emotions, and faith.

He will not speak on His own: Since you didn’t get to walk with Jesus, the Holy Spirit is going to make it up to you. He is going to empower you to experience Jesus’ training, life, message, ministry, and methods in special ways. He is going to help you experience all that Jesus has to offer you. It won’t just be information, words, and instruction. He is going to help you live in it all with full and living experiences. The more you yield to the Holy Spirit, the more Jesus will come alive in you and through you.
