Jer 29:11 (NIV) “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” You are an eternal being because God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, in Our likeness.... (Gen 1:26)” So, why did God make you in His likeness? He did it so you would have a God-given free will. He gave you self-awareness. He gave you the power to exercise your free will. He gave you the power to choose right from wrong.

Rev 21:1-3 (NIV) Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Now the dwelling of God is with men, and He will live with them. They will be His people, and God Himself will be with them and be their God. This is why He made you in His image and likeness!

Rom 8:19 (NIV) The creation waits in eager expectation for the sons of God to be revealed. You were made a part of the earth-creation so you could decide whether or not you wanted to be a child of God. John 1:12-13 (NIV) Yet to all who received Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the RIGHT to become children of God--children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God. That is what you took advantage of.

When you decided you wanted to be God’s child, He gave you a perfect record with Him. He made you a member of His family. And He made you a citizen of His eternal Kingdom. One of the main reasons you are going to be a part of His eternal Kingdom is, you have a perfect, sinless record with Him. No sin is going to be allowed in His eternal Kingdom. If that happened, it would destroy it like it has this earth. Sin is deadly and highly contageous. Sinners are carriers of this deadly, highly contageous spiritual disease. God’s children are cured.

Eph 4:11-13 (NIV) It was He (Jesus) Who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, TO PREPARE God’s people for works of service, SO THAT the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become , mature attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. Your next reason for being here is to become a MATURE child of God.

You are doing Devotions With Jesus so as to not only be a child of God; but to become a mature, skilled, trained, experienced, adult child of God. Jesus didn’t just provide you with salvation, He is providing you with a life in Him. He is training you how to live as a child of God. You are a spirit being; your Father is a Spirit; and you are to learn how to live with Him in the spirit realm. You must learn how to resist sins and how to be involved in righteousness. You are a God’s child and are to live as God’s child around the unsaved.
