The Benefits

Day Four    Page Two

This Week’s “Walking With Jesus” Reading
Recommendation:
During Your Devotions, This Will Give You Two Bible Chapters To Read Each Week.

Everybody Is Doing It This Way
Choosing Different Experts
It is true that a lot of the people you have admired have been approaching life the same way you do. It is true you have a lot of friends and associates you regularly meet with that have the same philosophies as you. However, there are a lot of OTHER people who are having far superior successes with God’s way of life. But, you may have heard a lot of people and programs make these same claims.

People Can Hurt Your Trust In Jesus
Have you ever been lied to by someone you trusted; have you ever been cheated by someone you believed in; have you been let down by people who were supposed to be your friends; have you already decided not to be gullible anymore? Are you finding yourself feeling skeptical, uncertain, doubtful, rejecting, and maybe already having your mind made up? Are you now at the place where you like people but don’t trust them because you have learned not to trust anyone?

Jesus Requires Faith
Here’s the problem you face as you start checking out Devotions With Jesus, you are going to have to learn to trust Jesus. He doesn’t respond well to being doubted, distrusted, and having His honesty and integrity questioned. He wants you to put Him in a different category than all the people you have experienced. All your self-protections, defence mechanisms, and walls will have to come down and go away.
Jesus Requires Meekness
Meekness probably isn’t what you think it is. It is the attitude you have when you allow someone to teach you as a professional. When you hire a plumber to fix a plumbing problem in your house, you are being meek. You realize that you don’t have the necessary skills so you TRUST someone else to do it for you. There are A LOT of things you can’t do for yourself. You have been allowing people to do those things for you all of your life. This is the type of relationship you will need to establish with Jesus. But first, you must see who you have been trusting for most, if not all, of your wants and needs.

I Trust Me!
Jesus Loves You More Than You Do
Because of your God-given free will, you have been making most of the decisions for what is best for you. For the rest of your decisions, you have been PERSONALLY picking the people who will tell you what to do. It is Jesus’ objective to try to help you see that some of your decisions are hurting you and may even be killing you. It is normal for most of your faith, trust, reliance, and dependency to be in yourself; but, you are actually letting yourself down.

Jesus Knows More Than You Do
It is going to take a miracle from God to help you start shifting that faith, trust, and dependency over to Jesus. But, you can at least trust Him to be gentle, loving, and caring as He reasons with you concerning this issue. Shifting this trust over to Jesus isn’t something that has to happen right away; as a matter of fact, it is something that usually happens gradually. Little by little God will slowly help you believe that Jesus loves you and will only do the very best for you.

This concludes your study
for today.
Just spend some time
thinking and praying about
what you have read and
heard so far.
Let Jesus use these ideas
and principles to change
your life.

Don’t forget to fill out your
“My Devotions With Jesus Record;”
