Your desires of wanting love, happiness, joy, and peace aren’t wrong. God put those desires in everyone; God just wants to change the METHOD you are using to get these things. Through Devotions With Jesus, Jesus will help you find that God isn’t trying to take your desires for love, joy, happiness, pleasure, peace, and freedom from pain away from you. As a matter of fact, He wants to give you good things in great abundance. James 1:17 (NIV) EVERY good and perfect gift IS from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, Who does not change like shifting shadows.

You may not have discovered this yet; but, true, permanent happiness ONLY comes from God and not from people or things. The way He trains and teaches you and the way He helps you will GIVE you the happiness you have been trying to get through all kinds of other sources. In other words, you will be entering into relationships with people and into circumstances of life WITH love, joy, happiness, and peace ALREADY in place in your heart and life. Rather than going around trying to find happiness, you will already have it.

If God can PUT love, happiness, joy, and peace inside you BEFORE you go out looking for the right people and things, then it will change your goal for life. You won’t be going out to FIND love, happiness, joy, and peace; you will be USING them to find the right people and things. Then, once you find the right people and things, you will be able to use love, happiness, joy, and peace to succeed at your relationships and efforts.

Jesus’ whole objective for you getting involved with Devotions With Jesus is to help you FIRST take care of letting God put the character and attitudes you need into your life. Then you will be treating people with a respect and care that they can appreciate. If the people around you like you, then you have their support for all the other things you try. If others enjoy your personality, your people skills, your honesty and integrity, and your attitudes, then they will work with you to assist with all your goals and dreams.

What has happened is, you have gone out trying to find love, happiness, joy, and peace in people and things. Then when those people and things didn’t supply you with those benefits you were seeking, you rejected them. If you already have these needs met from God, you will be able to enter into relationships with your heart blessed and healed by God. Then people and things won’t be always disappointing you and letting you down. You will no longer be expecting people and things to give you what only God can give.

The sad thing is, many people have found the right people and the right things; but, because they were expecting them to give them love, joy, happiness, and peace, those people and things disappointed them and seemed to be letting them down. And then, some of those people have since divorced the right person, rejected the right friends, left the right jobs, moved from the right places, and have started involving themselves in the wrong people and wrong things. But, even if this has already happened to you, Jesus can do something that is incredible. Rom 8:28 (NIV) And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.
