The Benefits

Day Five    Page Two

This Week’s “Walking With Jesus” Reading
Recommendation:
During Your Devotions, This Will Give You Two Bible Chapters To Read Each Week.

Free Will
Fear Of Losing Control
Everyone gets concerned with losing control over their life. One of the reasons it is hard to open up to others is because you have seen dominant people try to take control of your decisions, your philosophies for life, and your goals for the future. One very important thing you need to understand about God is that He is the One Who gave you your free will; and, He is the only One Who totally honors it.

God Honors Your Free Will
The Bible is filled with truths that literally transform people’s lives into beautiful relationships and circumstances. But, these truths only change those who DECIDE to take advantage of them. In other words, God doesn’t use His power, superior knowledge, God-sized understanding, and unlimited wisdom to force people to do things He wants done. He won’t trick you, force you, out reason you, or lure you into doing what you need to do. You will have to allow yourself to be convinced by the Bible that His way is the best way for you.

You Will Remain In Control
Prayer Gives God Permission
The Bible and the work of God require that you decide to expose yourself to these great provisions made available to you. Prayer is a spiritual process for you to let God know what you are WILLING to allow to happen to you. If you don’t pray and ask God for certain things, He will wait until you do. He honors your will, that He has given you, and will wait until you are convinced that you want and need what He has to offer. AND THEN He will wait until you pray and ask for it.
You Won’t Be Taken Advantage Of
Most of us come to God with a lot of trust issues. We don’t understand how pure and uncontaminated His attitudes and character are. Therefore, we find it hard to BELIEVE He won’t take advantage of us. Jesus and the Bible are here to tell you that you have been set free from those things that have controlled you. God wants to give you an incredible freedom from habits, addictions, relationships that are hurting you, and circumstances that have trapped you.

I See Where I Went Wrong
Freedom To Start Over
After God sets you free from things that have taken control over you, He then allows you to go back to making your own decisions. Everyone starts off using this freedom and making all their own decisions AGAIN. It is a real temptation to take your new life and use the same methods that messed it up in the first place. You may think that you have learned a lot of lessons from your old life and are ready to do a better job now that you have a new life. But, after using your God given freedom to make a whole bunch of NEW bad decisions, you will hopefully decide to give God a chance to start making more and more of your decisions for you.

Get Help
If you would like to avoid these new mistakes and get your life on the right track from the beginning, then you will need to join Jesus in taking you through Devotions With Jesus. He will use the Scriptures in it to show you the life you have been looking for. You will learn to love and trust God with more and more of your life as you go.
